Moroccan Oil

An ode to Moroccan Oil! My HG hair oil for the longest time…until I discovered Macadamia Natural Oil hair products.  On my recent trip home to visit my parents, I stopped in to see my good friend (and the only hairdresser who cuts my hair!) and decided to splurge and get this! I used it tonight… it’s VERY moisturizing. love love love.

A little somethin’ somethin’…

The one thing you’re able to see that I purchased today was the Chloe perfume (I’ve been lusting over ever since Sephora sent the free sample with my last purchase).  I might leave the rest for an extreme “haul” when I fly out at the end of the month for a mini ‘trip’.  Any MAC products you’d recommend? – seeing as I’m fairly new to the MAC cosmetics world.  Besides the purchases in this bag, I have only had possession of a mineralize blush…

If you want me, it takes more than a wink, more than a drink, and more than you think…

It’s not all for me! I swear! — the DermOrganic Shampoo and Masque are for my Mum! 🙂

Haulin: BaByliss Nano Titanium 1750 watt blow dryer, Macadmia Natural Oil Hair Masque (biggest tub they make, haha), Macadamia Natural Oil Rejuvenating Shampoo, 3 sets of Ardell false lashes (2 of which are InvisiBand), and a $15.99 hair brush (to carry around my purse — don’t ask me why it’s so expensive. Made in France. ? Maybe that’s why).

Haulin: food for my two kidlets. You know Oscar is the only one who really eats all this! LOL (Healthy crap on the left, and their version of “junk food” on the right side!)

Nothing else new.  I have spent all afternoon marking my students work… I’m not impressed. Emails have been sent.  Bitch panties remain on.

Crisis Averted

Finally! Crisis averted.  No one will be losing their job after all! My order is in my hot little hands!!  The main goodies of my order: Sephora Professional IT Natural Foundation Brush, and Angled Natural Blush Brush.  They both retail for about $45 CAD a piece. You can’t beat true quality! I will most likely do a review later on when I’ve had a chance to use them a bit more.  I did use both brushes when I did my makeup this afternoon, and I am absolutely obsessed with the angled blush brush! Perfect for contouring.  The foundation brush? I need to use it a bit more.  It does give a flawless airbrushed effect after applying your foundation; I’m just not sold on the size of it just yet.  It is small enough to get into smaller regions like around the nose, but since I’m so used to using a kabuki brush for foundation application it’ll take me some time to truly get used to this brush.

The other main contender? Urban Decay’s Naked2 palette.  I’m in love. Enough said.  It will definitely be competing with my Stila “In the Light” palette (my past HG shadow palette).

Of course, NARS blush in “sin”.  It’s such a gorgeous colour, and I feel like “orgasm” and “deep throat” are a bit too overrated.  This one’s the perfect deep berry colour, with a hint of gold shimmer.  So if you’re looking for a matte blush, this one is not for you!

I didn’t feel swatches were necessary.  These items are pretty main stream and popular across YouTube right now, so it would be rather redundant.  But of course if you request me to I will be willing to post some swatches!

Urban Decay All Nighter – I’ve heard fantastic things about this.  I chose to get the smallest bottle just to trial it.

Sephora flirt-it lash duo. I’m a suck for falsies on special occasions/nights out.   I do usually stick to Quo, but for $8 or $10 (forget the price) it’s worth giving it a try.

Blotting papers. Always necessary.

Samples: I did only request 1. D&G The One perfume, 2. Chloe perfume, 3. Cartier Baiser Vole perfume.  In addiction, for some reason they also sent me Givency Play perfume and a bareMinerals powder sample.  I won’t complain.

In addition today after getting off night shift at 0730, I slept until about 4pm and then decided I needed a few odds and ends from Walmart.  I hadn’t been to one in ages! While there I browsed down their cosmetics section to find HARD CANDY cosmetics! Woo! I had seen it across YouTube with good reviews. It was $5.98. In the middle is Hard Candy’s Tinted Lip Balm in Lovestruck.  They didn’t have any Maybelline Baby Lips left.  This was $2.98.  And the last thing is Hard Candy’s Plumping Serum volumizing lip gloss in 152 Uptown Girl.

I got these two bad boys just to try out.  When it comes to fluffy powder brushes, I don’t splurge.  This one was $7.77 and the second brush (which I’ll use for a shadow brush) was only $2.97.  Steal! Considering these two brushes cost a 1/4 of what one of my Sephora IT brushes cost me! LOL…

Finally, of course I indulged in a sugar-free cinnamon dolce frapp! Perfect end!

Houston, we have a [shopping] problem…

Ok, well it probably isn’t a problem… but I thought it would make for an interesting title.

I literally just got in from running some errands. My main focus: find out where the fffk my Sephora parcel is! All $275 worth of it. This morning I heard someone knock on the door, and I quickly looked out the window from upstairs and saw Canada Post. By the time I ran down the stairs and into the garage to get to the door he was GONE. Stealth little bugger. I didn’t let it phase me. I knew he’d leave a slip with information when to pick it up at the local branch. No slip. Not in the mail box. Not on the door. WTF! Ok… no big deal. Now that I am up, I shower, get ready and go have a coffee. I went to CostCo –and miraculously spent over $150! on what? Don’t ask. I can barely quantify what I got for that amount. On the way back home I decided to stop at the Canada Post branch near my house to see what the deal was. Lady said “Hm, well come back after 5pm today, or else it may not be here til Monday morning”. Got home. Had another coffee. Randomly decided to go on the mac and see what the tracking information was all about for my order. Item successfully delivered. WTF (again)!.  So I called Canada Posts main line and talk to a very pleasant lady.  On her end she also notes that the driver did in fact drop off the package, but with NO signature.  “Do Not Safe Drop” – the order specifically says.  Blah blah, she says it’s odd that the driver would drop it off without a signature especially under those ‘conditions’.  At this point I’m even more mad, thinking where the fffk is my package with over $275 worth of cosmetics from Sephora?!! She apologizes, of course. I expressed my concerns and feelings, naturally. She then gives me a reference number and says the ‘Investigations department’ will look into it and contact me within 5-10 business days. What else can I do? I write the number down, along with her name and hang up.
I really do not need to express in words how angry and frustrated I am at this point. I went to the local Canada Post branch after 5pm today in hopes I’d be there. Nope. They have no idea where it is.  I suppose I wait. I’ll be calling Canada Post back next week to follow up if they don’t call me first. Until then I will be familiarizing myself with their policy and fill out a claims report in case it doesn’t turn up. Not impressed. At all.  When this is all said and done, should I not ask for some sort of reimbursement?!?

SO naturally, to cheer myself up, I went out and did a bit of shopping. Not much though; I did have a rough idea of what I wanted to get.

TaDa.  This mini haul shall hold me over until my glorious Sephora order is in my hot little hands (fingers crossed).

False lashes make me happy. I don’t wear them often, but when I do… aaah. The Physician’s Formula is a duo pack! Happy Booster Glow & Mood Boosting Bronzer (haha, how ironic) with a “bonus” Glow & Mood Boosting blush! I know it may not be as good as the Nars Sin blush I had in my Sephora order (waaaaahhh) but it’s worth a shot! The duo pack was $21.99, which is decent considering most single item PF face powders cost about that much.  PS I HATE their packaging — the compacts are so bulky.
As for the Macadamia Natural Oil Deep Repair Masque – what I was really hoping to find was the Moroccan Oil hair masque (I’m in love with the moroccan oil) but they didn’t have any left! Boo.

Any questions on the products I just purchased, leave a comment below!

To all the women…

A thought occured to me today…. a lot of women don’t know their worth, myself included. I don’t know what it is about women where we give and give and don’t take in as much as we deserve. We also stay in dead-end relationships where the guy isn’t worthy of our love. We settle when there’s no reason to. We make do when making do isn’t necessary.

My fellow woman kind, you are worth more than the stars in the sky, the sand in the ocean and the water in the sea. Know your worth, set expectations, live your life to the fullest and always aim for the best because you deserve it. If you find it hard to realize your worth, realize this:

You are worthy of everything great that life has to offer
You deserve trust, honesty and respect from your significant other
You are deserving of being told you are beautiful

You are worthy of being treated fairly and without discrimination
You deserve true happiness and peace of mind
You deserve to love and accept your body for what it is

You are worthy of the best in life without settling
You deserve to be appreciated for who you are
You are deserving of independence and freedom

You deserve to never be treated unkindly or physically abused
You deserve to leave if you should find yourself in a bad relationship
You are worthy of seeking carnal pleasures without being labeled a slut

You are deserving of being spoiled and pampered from time to time
You are worthy of being told you are sexy
You are deserving of Friday nights in where you dance in your undies

Most of all, you are worthy of love and romance!

** I had found this quite some time ago and posted it to my Facebook. It’s beautiful, so I reposted.  Not only do men need to read and learn this, but women also need to remind themselves: YOU ARE WORTHY. ❤

Sally Hansen Salon Effects

Sarah (my sister) had purchased these a couple of weeks ago (woo discount).  They’re the Sally Hansen Salon Effects in 320 Kitty Kitty and 350 Misbehaved.  The picture below is Misbehaved.  Kitty Kitty is, obviously, the leopard print one.

The instructions below:

  • Start with clean, dry nails
  • Push back cuticles with wooden stick (provided)
  • Gently smooth surface of nails with white side of file (provided)
  • Give nails one last swipe of nail colour remover to remove any excess dirt and oil (this step is extremely important as it helps your manicure last longer.)
  • Use warm hands for maximum flexibility and stretch.
1. Select
  • Select best-fitting strip for each nail
2. Peel
  • Remove clear protective plastic cover, then peel nail polish strip from backing paper.
3. Break
  • Choose the side of the strip that best fits the shape of your cuticles. Break silver tab from strip.
4. Apply
  • Place strip against cuticle line. Hold strip at the center for maximum control.
  • Press strip to nail.  Gently stretch strip for a perfect fit.
  • Firmly smooth over entire nail.
  • Run flat side of cuticle stick along edge of strip to firmly bond strip to nail **I wouldn’t do this last step, it can break the foil**
5. Shape
  • Smooth excess over nail edge, forming a crease around the edge of the nail.
  • Gently file away excess from nail edge using light pink side of file (picture below)
– Repeat steps 2-5 for each nail, applying to thumbs last **I applied to my thumbs first, and it turned out well**

Trimming nails prior to application.  Then swiped nail beds with nail polish remover to ensure no excess oils to prevent the sticker from sticking.

One flaw right off that bat we noticed. When peeling back package, the clear plastic remained attached, so we had to cut it.
What you receive. Orange wood stick (cuticle pusher), nail file, instructions (not shown), and two packages of stickers (one package opened to give you an idea of sizing and amount).
Peeled back clear plastic cover.  Then the white paper from the back, and applied to the nail (once measured).
Press into nail, starting from the middle portion of the cuticle and then smoothing outwards from that point.
Since we both cut our nails fairly short, we were able to clip off the excess with a nail clipper (not provided), and utilize the OTHER side of the sticker for the opposing nail on the other hand. This allowed us to only use one package of the product (with one package unopened for a second application at a later time).
After pushing the excess off the tip of the nail, we then gently filed it at the edge of the nail.
Another step you can do if you find the sticker doesn’t fit near your cuticle perfectly, carefully push your cuticle back so any “hangover” sticker can fit nicely under the skin of the cuticle, for a flawless finish.
It’s not part of the instructions provided with this product, but we finished with 2 coats of a top coat.  This will (most likely) allow for a longer wear.
CON: the tiny pieces of sticker (which is foil!) left strewn about.  Though it wasn’t difficult to clean up…
Overall, it definitely took quite some time to apply (approximately one hour total). However, with practice, I can foresee this taking no time whatsoever to apply in the future.  Sarah applied 2 coats of top coat, and I applied 3 coats of top coat.  What I really enjoyed was how easy it was to apply, and not having to wait for “dry” time like traditional liquid nail colour. Plus, how fun are these patterns?! 🙂
I will be posting a follow-up note regarding this product, which will include how well it wore, and for how long.
Any questions or comments (your experiences) please feel free to post!
